Review of San Ramon, California

San Ramon Climate
Star Rating - 9/12/2012
If you like the weather hot and dry, this is the place for you!

Don't come here if you like to see green hills in the summer,if you don't care for sunshine for 7-8 months a year, or several heatwaves where the thermometer is above 100F.

The housing is extremely expensive (we paid $630,000 for an 1836 sq ft
house with 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a small backyard with a rotting deck. Single glazed windows. The school system, however, is top notch.

There are no green hills in the summer? Are you SERIOUS??? I've lived here for 24 years and one of my favorite things about San Ramon (other than the low property and violent crime rates) is seeing the beautiful, green foothills as you drive around the city. And, yep, it's the summer right now. Not sure who wouldn't enjoy sunshine for 7-8 months a year and since it's relatively dry heat, even 100F days are tolerable. Yes, the housing is expensive, but, people know that coming in. The city population has more than tripled since I moved here, with good reason - it's a beautiful, safe, low crime community with great schools.

Born in the Bay Area, lived in the tri valley for many years. San Ramon and Danville are top notch for schools, and San Ramon has a little bit of a retired community, so it's much slower paced and calmer than surrounding rat race entitled yuppies. I prefer it and I grew up in the bay. People are nicer in San Ramon than most cities nearby. You'll find older trees than Dublin and a nice variety of shopping and places to eat. It's small town enough but not boring. NO local decent hospital. You have to go to Kaiser Walnut Creek or John Muir. The SR hospital is not very good. you can also go to Kaiser medical offices in Pleasanton and Dublin. SR can be a little difficult for commuting depending where you live, but many of the neighborhoods are so safe and have beautiful architecture, so it's worth it. I prefer it over Dublin and Pleasanton. Danville is a tie but less convenient to get to.

UPDATE 2021: I just moved from there and I can assure you the hills are NOT green after spring. Most of the year it's all dry brush. Flammable dry brush.
